THE DREAMS WORKSHOP
Creativity has always been a part of me and I have expressed it in different ways at different times in my life. There were periods when it was just a pastime, providing moments of pleasure for me, and other periods when it was an opportunity to enhance family festivities and give pleasure to friends and relatives. There were also periods when difficulties I went through led me to neglect and forget this creativity for a while.
It has been my good fortune to meet people who made me realize that nothing stands still forever, rather that everything evolves like the cycle of seasons and what is winter today may later become summer. With this understanding my creativity woke up and from then on occupied more space in my daily activities.
Dream-catchers have always fascinated me by their history and by their powers. I began to produce my own and some people were charmed by my work and entrusted me with projects for friends or for themselves.
Each dream-catcher is unique and different as is each of us.
Artistic approach
A dream-catcher is a filter and I truly believe it can harmonize and protect a place.
A Native American legend tells of a hunter who went out alone to hunt. One night he went into a cave to rest and met a bear. Being very frightened, he fled. On the following nights he had terrible nightmares that made it difficult for him to sleep. Finally, on his last night away from his people, he chose to sleep under a tree. When he awoke in the morning, he felt rested and refreshed, having slept peacefully with no bad dreams. He looked up and discovered a spider’s web spun among the branches of the tree. He went home and described his adventure to a wise man of the tribe.
And so it is that Native Americans came to create dream-catchers in order to protect their people during their sleep. And the magic worked.
This magic speaks to me and I would like to share it with everyone.
