BIOGRAPHY

Ever since childhood, I’ve been curious about the world and especially about the great outdoors surrounding me. My numerous travels all over the planet have gradually led me to develop a passion for photography, so that today travelling and photography have become inseparable. During the Covid pandemic, all the various restrictions on travel encouraged me to rediscover my own country, Switzerland, and in particular Valais, the canton where I grew up, and gave me an insatiable desire to share the beauty of places I visited.

Being a psychologist by profession, fascinated by the human soul, as well as being a self-taught photographer, a versatile sportsman, and a lover of wide-open spaces, and driven by sensitivity to the environment and by a spiritual quest, I naturally turn to forests and mountains to recharge my batteries and take time for wonder, always with my camera at hand, ready to capture those fleeting moments. The various facets of my personality all come together in my approach to landscape photography.

Artistic approach

I consider myself to be a hunter of visual experiences and a collector of present moments. During my photographic wanderings, I am careful to let my intuition guide my steps and lead me quite naturally to create balanced compositions in which light, magic, and invisible essences somehow clearly appear to the viewer’s eyes. My desire is to show through my pictures just how small we humans are in the face of the immensity of the world around us. And yet tiny man, collectively, is threatening the delicate balance of the planet’s ecosystems.

Once back home, with the help of “Lightroom” software, I rework my unfinished files in order to emphasise certain elements and give them greater impact and presence, rather in the way a painter might touch up his canvas. I enjoy giving my pictures the effect of a visual breath of fresh air, a shower of colours, an enchanting symphony… in hopes of touching the viewer’s heart, tickling his soul, or simply making him want to put on his hiking boots and set out on an adventure. I would love to arouse in him or her the same feeling of inner peace and the same burst of wonder that I had in that instant when I released the shutter on my camera.

I am deeply convinced that wonderment can act as a powerful lever for change and for awakening of consciousness. It enables us to return to our centre and know how fragile we are as humans, thereby all the more inspiring us to honour the earth, our Mother Earth, who supports us.
